Waxpol Hotels and Resorts Founded in 2008, Waxpol Hotels & Resorts is one of India's pioneering sustainable wildlife hospitality companies. Built on the principles of Conservation, Community, Culture and Comfort, the company creates meaningful travel experiences that connect guests with India's extraordinary natural and cultural heritage.

More than a collection of resorts, Waxpol Hotels & Resorts is a family of destination-led brands, each inspired by the landscapes, communities and ecosystems they call home. Sustainability is not an afterthought—it is woven into the very fabric of our operations. Across our destinations, we strive to preserve natural habitats, support local livelihoods and create experiences that contribute positively to both people and place.

Today, Waxpol Hotels & Resorts is represented by two distinct hospitality brands: Sunderban Tiger Camp and The Riverwood Forest Retreats, each offering a unique perspective on responsible travel and immersive nature experiences.

At Waxpol Hotels and Resorts, sustainability is not an afterthought—it is woven into the very fabric of our operations. We are committed to preserving the environment and enhancing the well-being of local communities, ensuring that our presence is harmonious and beneficial.

The Riverwood Forest Retreat represent Waxpol's vision of immersive wilderness hospitality.

The name Riverwood is inspired by the natural elements that define each destination—a forest landscape accompanied by a river, lake, wetland or natural waterbody that supports life, biodiversity and a deep connection to nature. Whether overlooking a perennial river, a seasonal stream, a forest lake or a wildlife-rich wetland, each retreat is thoughtfully positioned within some of India's most remarkable natural environments.

Located in Kanha, Pench and the Dooars, every Riverwood property is set amidst landscapes where forests, wildlife and water come together to create exceptional wilderness experiences. Positioned near core forests, buffer zones or important wildlife habitats, these retreats offer guests the opportunity to experience nature while enjoying comfort, space and meaningful hospitality.

More than places to stay, The Riverwood Forest Retreats are destinations in themselves. Guests can spend their days exploring national parks, wildlife habitats, local communities and cultural landscapes before returning to retreats designed for relaxation, reflection and reconnection with nature.

Each property reflects the character of its destination while sharing a common philosophy: creating authentic wilderness experiences that celebrate conservation, local culture and the restorative power of nature.

Whether it is the tiger forests of Kanha, the legendary landscapes of Pench or the Himalayan foothills of the Dooars, The Riverwood Forest Retreats invite travellers to discover India's wild spaces at their own pace.

Sunderban Tiger Camp our journey began with Sunderban Tiger Camp in 2004, long before sustainable tourism became part of mainstream travel conversations.

Located in the heart of the Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove ecosystem and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sunderban Tiger Camp was created with a vision of demonstrating that tourism could become a catalyst for conservation and community development.

Life in the Sundarbans is unlike anywhere else on earth. Surrounded by water, yet facing a constant scarcity of freshwater, island communities have learned to live in harmony with one of the planet's most challenging environments. Even today, rainwater harvesting remains an essential part of daily life and sustainable operations.

More than 95% of our team members come from local communities. Over the years, responsible tourism has helped create alternative livelihoods for families that were once heavily dependent on forest resources for survival. Many individuals who once relied on activities such as poaching, illegal resource extraction or risky forest-based occupations have become advocates for conservation, tourism and sustainable livelihoods.

Sunderban Tiger Camp embraces the spirit, culture and resilience of the Sundarbans. Guests experience local traditions, island life, community interactions and the extraordinary biodiversity of this unique landscape while contributing directly to its long-term preservation.

This is not simply a resort in the Sundarbans—it is a story of people, conservation and coexistence.

With us, you will discover more than just a destination; you will experience a new narrative in hospitality, one that is crafted with care, designed for discovery, and detailed with cultural nuances. Welcome to Waxpol Hotels and Resorts, where every stay is a story waiting to unfold.
